Crooked Room Studio is an independent recording studio in Strensall, just fifteen-minutes from the centre of York. Drawing from the best of the analogue world while maintaining the flexibility of modern computer based recording, we’ve recorded, produced, mixed and mastered countless tracks that have had airplay on national radio stations like BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music and garnered millions of plays on Spotify and other streaming services.
We give recordings that special sonic twist, taking exceptional songs and adding the scope and colour they need to truly come alive. The studio is built on a secluded rural farm, far from distraction, creating an immersive environment to stimulate the imagination and sharpen the focus.
Crooked Room offers full recording services from pre-production all the way through to mastering the final record. We can also help you take your home recordings to the next level with our mixing service (this can be particularly useful for projects with a smaller budget). We also offer location recording: we will pack up a selection of the studio’s gear and bring it to you. That way you can record in an environment you know well and are comfortable in or record your next gig.
“Crooked Room is an excellent base for creativity and recording, whether we’re recording finished full band songs or playing with new ideas and sounds. It’s a relaxed, secluded environment with high tech spec available to create absolute bangers or twiddly little wonky numbers, and I can entirely recommend Isaac as an experienced, artistic and driven producer.”

“Making the new Boss Caine album here has been a total joy. Great space, great equipment, great access to session musicians, and Isaac is a top producer and engineer who really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with. If you are a new band/artist or an established musician looking to raise your game, I’m 100% confident he will be able to help you on your way. Beautiful setting too, with easy access to local amenities but nothing too near to distract you. Spot on.”
– Daniel Lucas (Boss Caine)
